The Mission of Healthcare Foundations in Herndon, Virginia: Achieving Community Resilience

Gloria Addo-Ayensu, MD, MPH is the Fairfax County Health Director and is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the county's public health programs. She serves as the official health advisor to the Fairfax Board of Supervisors, the Health Care Advisory Board and the Human Services Council. Her mission is to promote community resilience and create innovative, practical, and sustainable community approaches to address public health challenges. In order to achieve this mission, the Department of Health has identified organizational priorities and strategic direction.

They are working together with their communities and across programs and sectors to protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of all members of their community. The Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF) is a public-private partnership dedicated to increasing access to primary health care for uninsured Virginians with few medical services. They are also committed to providing primary health care for Virginians who don't have health insurance and who live in underserved areas. The plan is aligned with the 10 essential public health services (EPHS) and fundamental public health services (FPHS) frameworks, which define public health services and provide the basis for quality and performance improvement initiatives across the country. The Virginia Health Care Foundation makes a difference in the lives of countless Virginians every day by providing qualified, compassionate health care and counseling that honors the name of Jesus Christ.

Special thanks to the trustees and advisors of the Virginia Health Care Foundation for generously sponsoring this website. The Department of Health will monitor implementation progress and report on an annual basis. They will also update the plan as necessary to reflect changes in needs and resources. By working together with our communities and across programs and sectors, they will continue to promote their mission to protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of all members of our community.
